Introducing Dr. Clara Williams, DVM, MS, DACVO

We are excited to announce our new ophthalmology service at Boston Veterinary Clinic in partnership with Clara Williams, DVM, MS, DACVO! Dr. Williams is thrilled to return to the Greater Boston area to see patients starting in September ’24 at our Charlestown clinic. We are happy to see your patients for ophthalmology services, knowing the high demand for this specialty, and will refer them back to you for continued GP care and follow-up.

Ever since she was a little girl, Dr. Williams was intrigued by the wonders of the eye. When her father underwent cataract surgery, the family Physician explained the basic eye anatomy to young Clara, showed her what cataracts were and how her father’s vision would be improved after surgery.

After becoming a Veterinarian in Colombia, a Tropical Animal production Diploma Course in The Netherlands reinforced Dr. Williams’ practice in dairy and beef cattle. In 2000, Dr. Williams moved to the United States and became a licensed Veterinarian. She completed a residency in Veterinary Ophthalmology and a Masters of Science in Pathology with emphasis in comparative ocular pathology at the School of Veterinary Medicine, The University of Georgia in Athens.

A Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists since 2008, Dr. Williams practiced in Massachusetts, specifically in the Greater Boston area for 13 years. She returns to the area after spending the last 3 years practicing in Manhattan and is looking forward to reconnecting with previous pet parents and furry loved ones as well as meeting new ones!
